Federation of Warsaw Metropolitan Universities (FUAW) was established on October 1, 2012 as a result of an agreement between WSWMiR and the Private Higher Vocational School in Giżycko. The president of FUAW for the term 2016-2020 is the Rector of WSWMiR prof. Janusz Kowalski.
FUAW gathers autonomous private universities from the area of the Warsaw Agglomeration, Pomerania and Podkarpacie. The aim of the Federation is to increase the research and teaching potential of the higher education institutions included in it, as well as joint marketing activities promoting the educational offer of the units comprising the Federation
The Federation adheres to the principle of respecting the autonomy of member schools. In April 2015, the Federation applied for the registration of FUAW as the first association of non-public universities in Poland. The Federation's task is also international activity, manifested in cooperation with academic centers around the world, with special emphasis on universities from the former Soviet Union and the Middle East and Maghreb. The formula of the university's federation, which is an educational cluster, is also conducive to raising funds from the European Union for development activities.
The organizational form of FUAW facilitates financing and development of a specific scientific profile of individual member schools as well as rationalization of expenditure on administration, marketing and advertising. The effect of such an organizational structure is, among others, creation of the Central Archive of Records, where student and personal files of all member universities and university units are kept. Archives with many years of experience supervise the archiving of files
Our Association invites all other universities to join FUAW. We want our Federation together with the Conference of Rectors of Professional Polish Schools (KRZaSP) to be a strong representation of our environment, a representation that will counteract all forms of discrimination against non-public higher education.
It is important for the university authorities included in the Federation to develop a practical profile in the fields of study. For our universities, cooperation with the local government, business and business environment is of great importance, as well as developing a student enterprise that is to equip graduates with practical business skills necessary for effective management of their own professional career.
